It was three years ago yesterday that my mom went home to be with the Lord. She battled colon cancer for four long years. During her final days of life, I found comfort in knowing that Heaven was a better home than the one we only know, Earth. My entire family surrounded her bed as she took her final breath. When I picture what Heaven must look like for her, I envision her knitting, sewing, scrapbooking and teaching little preschoolers–with her mom by her side. And with that–I rejoice, knowing that she is in eternal glee! God is faithful.
After her passing we have had different struggles arise. From financial complications to cleaning out her “stuff” to the first set of holidays without her. Through each different season, God was faithful.
She has missed the birth of her first grandchild, seeing my brother and I work hard at our professions, she won’t see our new life in Holland or watch August grow into a little boy. But God is always faithful.
Nowhere in the Bible does God promise life to be easy or perfect. But He does promise His faithfulness. The past three years has been a picture of how God makes something beautiful out of something really ugly. Trails can shape us and transform us a little more into His image. When our trust is put into Him and His perfect plan we see how God is faithful.
Be encouraged my friends, trails can lead to beauty.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” John 14:1-4
